   1. What is the format of the monthly Pooja?

First sangalpam and main Pooja commencing at 2.00pm and lasting for 30-45 minutes. This will be followed with aarathi and neivedhiyam (offering of prasadham to God).Thereafter the prasadham thus blessed will be available for distribution to the devotees.

For the next three hours, until 5.30pm, the priest will perform archanas to the three deities (Vinayaka, Lakshmi and Saraswathi) at the request of devotees. Mangala aarathi (the final aarathi) will then be done by the priest marking the end of the day's activities.

   2. What is sangalpam and who does it?

Sangalpam is the initiation procedure and is done by the devotee(s) at the behest of the priest.

   3. What is the main Pooja about?

Traditionally in our temples abishekam (bathing the idols), alankaram(dressing) and pooja (worship) are done thrice a day (morning, noon and evening) before archanas are done at the request of devotees. Until such a time as we have a properly installed vigraham (idol) in our temple the best we can do is a Pooja to the three deities, in particular to Vinayaka.

   4. Who causes the main pooja to be performed?

In July 2004, it was done on behalf of all those present at that time. From now on, any devotee for no specific reason at all or to celebrate a special personal occasion like birthday of a family member, wedding anniversary etc, can sponsor this pooja and the main pooja with suitable modifications, within permissible parameters, to befit the occasion will be done for his/her benefit.

   5. Besides the main pooja can one sponsor any other event or item?

Yes, a wide variety of sponsorships are available.
Please check the "Sponsorship / Donations" page for details

   6. How does one offer to sponsor and whom should he contact in this connection?

Sponsors are requested to contact the donations@ivt.ie or 086-8881905 and remit their contributions, where possible, at least one clear week before the pooja day

   7. Is it necessary for every devotee to be present from 2.00 until 6pm?

No. The sponsor of the main pooja will have to be present at 2.00 as otherwise the pooja will take place in his absence. Likewise anyone sponsoring to bring in an item of prasadham for neivedhiyam should bring in the prasadham before 2.00 so it can be offered to god first. All others are strongly encouraged to be present for the entire proceedings, but are free to come and go at anytime they please.

   8. Are there any specific conditions for sponsorships?

None at all. Anyone can sponsor any item for any monthly pooja. There can be more than one sponsor for an event/item. Any prasadham item specially prepared for neivedhiyam should not have been tasted before hand as it is meant to be offered first to God.

9.What is the cost of an archana?

The cost is only EUR 3 per archana. This is needed to cover the cost of archana items and incidentals. Free archana will be done on the day for the sponsors of any Pooja event/item of the day.

   10. What is the procedure for having an archana done?

Get a ticket on your arrival at the temple premises and present it to the priest with the name(s), birth star(s) and Gothram(s) , the last two being optional.

   11. What does the Main Pooja sponsor need to bring?

Nothing at all. Betel leaves, betel nuts, bananas, flowers, vibuthi, kumkum, camphor and coconuts will be provided by us for the main pooja.

   12. What does one need to bring for archana?

Please bring in coconut, if you prefer. Betel leaves, Betel nuts, bananas, vibuthi, kumkum will be provided by us for the archana.

   13. Can special pooja's be conducted at individual's residences?

Yes. Please contact us at 086-8881905 or through feedback section at our website www.ivt.ie to discuss priest booking on an individual basis.

   14. How much are the charges to book a priest for personal events in the individual's residence?

We are at the moment working towards having special packages for wedding ceremonies, house warming and etal. A minimum donation of 51 euros towards temple fund would be much appreciated for the assistance we hope to provide in addition to the actual cost.

   15. Can I be of any other help?

Yes. We would much appreciate volunteers, if any, to assist us during the pooja day. Typically, it might require arranging the hall before the pooja starts at 2pm, helping us with issuing archana tickets, cleaning of the hall at the end of pooja among others.

   16. Can we bring our own Prasadham?

Yes. But with prior intimation to the committee please. Please send us an email denoting your wish to bring in the Prasadham by sending a mail to feedback@ivt.ie
